The Rise Of Dirt Track Racing

By Maria Carter

Dirt track racing is a type of race which is performed in an oval shaped track that has a floor surface of a clay or dirt. This is the most common type of auto racing in some other countries. They have a lot of racing tracks in their local and regional places.

There are two different vehicles used in this kind of competition. These are the open wheel racers and the stock cars. Open wheel racers are manufactured with tubular frames and a body that is purchased for that certain class. Stock cars varies from full tube frame chassis and aluminum bodied models manufactured by major automakers. Dirt track racing Arkansas is the most popular place for this type of race.

Aside from those open wheel race cars and those stock cars, other vehicles that are used are modified cars. These are composed of both the stock cars and open wheel cars. But sanctioning bodies are often controlling this in almost all tracks. Sanctioning bodies have some kind of different guidelines and rules.

Non production car is one type of car which is built only for racing. It consists of welded tubular frames and its bodies are customized and are purchased. Some other types of full bodied race car include limited late models, crate late models, late models, and the late model stock.

A late model is constructed with a steel, tube frame chassis and has aluminum bodies that makes them look like the race car. This is an expensive type of model. Some equipment can be cheaper but it is much more expensive to stay competitive.

Limited and late model stock have similarities in the body parts. The only difference between the two is the motor rules. Limited model has limitations when talking about its engine. And for the stock model, it has more limitations on its engines. Many sanctioning bodies have different variations on these rules. Coordination for the requirements allow the drivers to compete in many different racetracks and they will have a higher chance of winning.

Crate late models have engines that has a special tag. These tags are sealed at the intake manifold, front cover, cylinder head, and oil pan. These models cannot be altered, changed, and modified from its factory specifications. Sponsoring organizations have rules in outlining each class of race car that includes the dimensions, engine size, equipment requirements, and prohibitions.

Though this track racing is very popular, accidents still cannot be avoided. There are tracks in some places that does not have any safety barriers along the sides and in the walls. Some drivers also race though they do not have the same interior head restraints which is one very important thing that is required in most major tracks.

Most small racetrack owners cannot afford in buying the expensive equipment in racetracks. And there are also sanctioning bodies who does not even have their own safety regulations and standards. These are just most common problems and to add it all, may surely result to more accidents and deadly situations.
