Guidelines For Dent Repair Dublin

By Jason Cook

There are chances that a driver can have a dent on a vehicle at a given point of his or her life. Such a situation occurs even without your knowledge. Fortunately, there are quite a lot of DIY methods that one can use to handle such situations. Here are DIY techniques for dent repair Dublin that one should ponder on.

Suction using a plunger. The trick of using a plunger is to ensure that small dents get out with ease. The process is ideal for lifting dents on the doors and the side panel. Use a cup plunger since it produces a lot of suction as compared with the flange plunger. Wet the plunger and dent and pull for a couple of times to determine whether its release.

Rely on the boiling water pliability. Plastic has become a standard material used to make car bumpers. For that reason, water pliable can be an effective method that one can use to remove a dent. You only need to pour hot water on the surface and push the dent from the other side. Do not apply a lot of force since the bumper is quite flexible and can end up damaging.

Dry ice pop out. Dry ice is common as a cooling agent. However, it can be an ideal choice for removing an indentation. Hold down the piece of ice on the indention and rub it around until it pops out back to its original place. Make sure that you are wearing protective gloves when applying the ice. You can use the ice for as long as you can until the cavity pops out.

Use compressed air and a hairdryer. The fact that plastic is reactive to heat makes the use of hairdryer ideal enough. Use the hairdryer to heat the surface until it is hot enough. As soon as the surface becomes hot, use the compressed air to cool it. The principle behind this technique is the expansion and contraction. Heating the surface expands it, and the instant cooling allows the pop out.

Use a vacuum cleaner and a bucket. Suction is usually effective compared with other methods. However, plungers do not offer the right suction needed to remove a cavity effectively. Therefore, one has to improvise a vacuum cleaner with a pot to create large suction. Start by drilling a hole at the bottom of the bucket where you can fit the cleaner hose and tape it to hold it down. The bucket will create a large suction compared with plungers.

Use hot glue, screws and wooden dowels. Fit the screws on both sides of the dowels to make them easy to pull. Then, put the hot glue on the bottom of the dowels and stick them on the indented surface. Ensure that the glue dries before you start pulling the dowels. Carefully pull the dowels one by one until the whole surface pops out. Later on, remove the glue using heat or rubbing alcohol.

Purchase a specialty tool. When every other method fails, one should turn to specialty tools. These kind of devices are available on local stores and are easy to use as well. However, you must be careful with your choice to determine whether they fit the dent that your vehicle has.
